Hiking “Beauty” Essentials

I never imagined I’d be writing a post about hiking beauty essentials, but I love to share helpful products with you guys! This guide is less about makeup, and more about protecting your already beautiful skin. The key ingredient in most of the items? SPF! Read on to see my favorite hiking beauty essentials and get some time outside this week!

Tula – Protect + Glow Sunscreen SPF 30 Sunscreen – PROMO CODE: THECLOSETDIME

This is my favorite “everyday” sunscreen on the market! My skin becomes more dry as I get older and this gel sunscreen never fails to give my skin a natural glow. I love taking it to the beach, but I always have to bring a couple of other options as well since it’s not water proof. For something like a long walk or hike, however, it’s perfect!

Lano – All Over Golden Dry Skin Salve

There’s nothing worse than having a cut or scrape that you can’t tend to while on a hike. This versatile, all over salve works wonders for dozens of uses and is the perfect size to toss in your hiking backpack. I also use it on m lips or cracked knuckles in a pinch!

Ilia – Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Foundation – Shade 9 (Paloma)

If you’re going to wear makeup on an outdoorsy trip, this is the makeup for you. I would describe this as “tinted skincare” instead of “lightweight makeup”. Why? Well, for one thing, it definitely smells like skincare. Carrying SPF 40, it definitely has a smell to it that doesn’t last long, but is noticeable. It’s also light and has a natural finish, with dewy coverage like a vitamin C serum. It comes in a variety of shades and after doing my shade-matcher on Sephora, I went with shade #9 Paloma. I used my favorite Dior foundation in shade 3W as a comparison.

COOLA – Peppermint + Vanilla Lip Balm SPF 30

SPF lippy is a MUST if you’re going to be outside! I’ve worn this chapstick for the last 10 or so years and it never lets me down. Even Shawn uses it and he doesn’t feel like it’s too much of a balm. The peppermint + vanilla scent is definitely the way to go, but they do also have an “original” scent which I think has very little smell or taste.

Sweat Cosmetics Broad Spectrum Translucent Powder – SPF 30

I’ve talked about Sweat Cosmetics numerous times, but there really is no comparison to their mineral SPF powder products! Designed by athletes, they understand how important it is to stay protected from the sun while not sweating off your makeup. I love their mineral foundation, bronzer and blush, but their translucent powder takes the cake! I keep this in my bag all the time for an extra swipe of SPF on-the-go. What could be more perfect on a hike?!

Eucerin – Daily Hydration Cream with SPF 30

Okay, I thought this was a genius product. SPF in my lotion? Yes please! Especially while hiking in dry areas, you need to nourish your tired skin. The Eucerin daily hydration cream has SPF 30 and doesn’t feel tacky or sticky on your skin. I don’t always feel like applying sunscreen and body lotions, so having a product that does both has worked wonders for my SPF needs.
