I am a huge fan of fall. It holds my birthday, my favorite holiday (Thanksgiving) and my favorite childhood memories. While I don’t go crazy with the decorating, I do like to change things up a bit and have my home decor match the season and temperature outside.
When it gets crisp in the fall, you can bet I’ll have a yummy candle burning and a cozy blanket warming my tootsies! I also keep a nice door mat by each door so we don’t track extra dirt and leaves into our home. My sister sent us one that has lyrics to our wedding song, and I also have one that says “HYGGE”, which is a Danish word describing a mood of coziness and comfortability. How perfect is that for fall?! Another great style hack is placing a fabric rug under your doormat to add another texture and pattern. It’s a simple way to add color and pop to an otherwise unnoticed detail.
Something else I can’t live without? Plants! It’s harder to keep plants alive in the cooler months, so I always keep a few faux plants on hand. A beautiful fall wreath that you can use year after year is a great investment. I also love keeping a string of fall leaves or a few stems of silver dollar eucalyptus around. You can add them to a vase or lay them over your hearth or dining room table. It’s easy to mix and match, and you can use them each year without spending extra money.
These are just a few things I like to do as the warmer months start to escape us. It doesn’t have to be fancy or even very intricate, but find a few things that will make you happy in your home. Trust me, it’ll go a long way!
