I’ve been on the road a lot and my immune system has paid the price!
When I’m sick I don’t feel like doing anything, but I never actually have that luxury. For those times when you need to get over your cold ASAP, I’ve compiled a few ways to sneeze the day! (It felt corny the minute I said it.)
My sister and I were talking the other day when we realized that the little tissue packets that I bought said “seize the day” on them. She promptly noted that it was a total missed opportunity not to have them say “sneeze the day” and we burst out laughing! Regardless of how I got the inspo for this post, it’s helpful to have a few things on hand for when you need to get over a cold quickly.
Below are a few things I keep handy when I’m feeling less than my best! Even being aware of the fact that I’m germy helps remind me to take better care of myself.
These things are so yummy! The Vitamin C chews are cut like little orange slices and they’re a good reminder for me to take them each morning. I haven’t tried the multivitamin gummies, but they look just as good!
I carry these bad boys with me all of the time because after blowing your nose with toilet paper or paper towels for the 50th time, you’re about ready to call it quits.
When I’m sick I treat myself to a secret Starbucks menu item called the Medicine Ball. If you don’t know what this is, find the recipe below. If I really feel crummy for several days, I’ll buy as many of the ingredients as I can, and make several of them at home to save a few pennies.
- 1 Venti cup with half hot water and half steamed lemonade.
- Bag of Teavana Jade Citrus Mint Tea.
- Bag of Teavana Peach Tranquility Tea.
- Packet of honey.
- Pump of peppermint (optional)
There’s nothing quite like a comfy sweatshirt to wear when you’re feeling bad. I never want to get dressed when I don’t feel well and this sherpa pullover is the perfect thing when I’m under the weather! I’m wearing a kids XL since it was a little cheaper but they have it in women’s as well.Image found via Pinterest
My favorite movie of all time is You’ve Got Mail. While I watch it no matter the time of year, I especially like to watch it when I’m sick. There’s a scene when Tom Hanks’ character brings Meg Ryan’s character yellow daisies because she is sick, and it gets me every time. If you’re short on time, and you have the movie memorized like I do, simply listen to the movie soundtrack on Spotify.
I always keep a few food items at home. Cuties (those mini oranges) for vitamin C, chicken soup, honey flavored cough drops and peppermint tea. This is by no means a cure for my cold, but it helps me feel better in the mean time.
