Makeup Free For A Week

Let’s go makeup free for a WHOLE week!

Contents: My face and absolutely NO makeup!

What? No makeup AT ALL?!

A few weeks ago I decided to go an entire week without putting a dab of makeup on my face or neck. Makeup free for a whole week? Why?! Part of it was about seeing if I could stick to a routine, and part of it was to see if my skin would improve. I knew a week wouldn’t be enough to see a miraculous change, but it’s enough time to start a habit of better skincare. Let’s face it, who doesn’t want better looking skin?!

The whole point of my makeup free week was to improve my skin and stick to a skincare routine. It was not only about reducing the amount of makeup I wear, but also giving my skin some of the things it was missing. I paid more attention to the nutrients in my face washes and moisturizers, and tried new serums and cleansers that provide benefits I was needing.

BEGINNING OF WEEK ONE!

What else did I do?

It’s no surprise that your skin needs moisture and SPF, but what about the things it doesn’t need? I cut out sugar when I could, and opted for up-do’s, instead of hairstyles that brought my hair across my face. I also kept my nails short and changed my pillowcase every other night.

Speaking of sleep, GET MORE! This one was a major fail for me. It happened to be a really busy week, so I wasn’t able to meet my goal of getting an extra hour of sleep each night. It’s still a goal of mine, though, and hopefully I can make it happen soon.

In addition to keeping my hair out of my face, I decided to reduce the amount of oil in my roots that build up overnight. If you really want to take this project to heart, keep your hair in a loose braid/elastic when you sleep so it doesn’t rub oils on your forehead or cheeks.

P.S. Have any questions about any of these products? Just ask!

Like you, I can read the label and see that some of these products are pretty pricey. I would never spend $50+ on a serum that may or may not work, and I assume most readers think the same way. If you need some advice, or even a little encouragement to go an entire week without makeup, call on me! I will be your wing woman and help you commit to glowing skin.
