This Kestrel bag really put me through the ringer. I bought it specifically for my holiday trips. I then proceeded to take photos of it, write a blog post about it and then lose it for an entire month! It wasn’t until the day I was leaving, as I’m running late for the airport, that I see it hiding under the ottoman. It was completely covered in dust bunnies and taunting me as I became more and more frantic that I was missing my Uber.
I really intended to use it for makeup and fragrances. Seeing as I was already packed, and had several things that were at the bottom of my purse, it actually made an awesome “catch all” bag for the trip. Instead of the beautifully placed images you see above, it served a different purpose at first. While traveling I had tea bags, Chapstick, a deck of cards, earrings and much, much more crammed into the Kestrel.
Talk about handy!
Now that I’m back, I actually do use it as a makeup bag. It’s great for smaller items that I can throw in my purse for the day-to-day. I even managed to cram an eyelash curler in there once! (I don’t know why, because I don’t even use an eyelash curler.)
I’ve been obsessing over Kestrel bags for as long as I can remember, but I’m not big into patterns. Luckily, Nordstrom Rack always has my back and keeps these plain black pouches in stock all the time. I honestly can’t remember a time when they weren’t by the cosmetics bags at checkout (which is weird, considering they’re never on the Kestrel website).
