I will never forget the special moments my mom and I would have when dress shopping for Easter Sunday. The weather in Oklahoma would start to warm up, and it was one of the first glimpses we had of a season full of spring flowers (and tornadoes). 😉
Wearing bright colors for me can sometimes be a stretch, but it never feels forced when I’m prepping for Easter. It’s one of the few times that a group of people sit in remembrance of Christ dying and actually rejoice at the thought of a stone being moved from one corner of a tomb to another! Bright feels right (see what I did there?) and it’s always in the company of others who anticipate the day as much as you do.
This dress is from TJ Maxx, which wouldn’t normally matter (since half of my wardrobe is from there) but for this occasion it was a bit funny. When I was talking about this post with my sister, we couldn’t help but giggle at the memories of us going to the one place in town that would have Easter dresses, good ole’ JC Penny! We truly grew up like the Miranda Lambert song suggests about driving “all the way to Dallas just to buy an Easter dress.”
Times have changed and probably for the better, but even when I’m not with all of my sisters looking for matching Easter dresses at JC Penny, it’s nice to know that each year I can be giddy about an empty tomb while wearing a pretty pink dress.
Happy Easter Sunday everyone!
He Is Risen!
